Horseback Riding Lessons
-
Learning the Basics
During each session, participants are introduced to the basics of horse care and safety in a hands-on, supportive environment. From grooming and barn responsibilities to riding, each experience builds confidence and foundational skills. Riders also learn to connect with their horse through body awareness and focus, fostering trust, communication, and personal growth
Learning About Your Tack and Equipment
Participants will also be introduced to tack and its proper use, gaining a foundational understanding of the equipment essential for safe and effective riding. Through hands-on experience, they will learn how to correctly handle, care for, and use tack while developing confidence and responsibility in their horsemanship skills
Learning the Techniques
Participants are introduced to foundational learning techniques that support growth both on and off the horse. Through guided instruction and hands-on practice, they develop focus, body awareness, and problem-solving skills—building confidence, independence, and a deeper understanding of the learning process.
Learning to Ride
When you are comfortable and balanced, we will teach you how to trot, canter, and gallop, and you will have the chance to demonstrate your skills on our horseback riding obstacle course.
-
While participating in sessions, long pants and boots are required for safety. Boots must have a heel of at least 1½ inches to ensure proper riding security and support. We do have a limited selection of boots available to borrow for your session; however, sizes are limited. Please note that no other footwear will be permitted during sessions.
Helmets are required for all horseback riding activities (no bike helmets permitted). All helmets must be ASTM/SEI certified to ensure proper safety standards. We have a wide range of sizes available to borrow for those who need one during their session.
Most of our working areas are covered; however, sunscreen is still strongly encouraged for added protection during outdoor time. As we are an active barn environment, bugs are to be expected, so bringing bug spray is always a good idea for comfort during sessions. We always encourage participants to bring a water bottle to ensure they stay properly hydrated throughout their time out here.
Those accompanying participants are encouraged to wear attire suitable for outdoor activities and walking around the farm.

Horseback riding and equine-assisted sessions offer a wide range of physical, emotional, and developmental benefits. Working with horses encourages the development of balance, coordination, strength, and body awareness, while also promoting focus and discipline in a hands-on learning environment.
Beyond the physical skills, time spent with horses fosters confidence, patience, and emotional regulation. Horses are highly intuitive animals, and interacting with them helps participants develop communication skills, trust, and empathy. Equine-assisted sessions also provide a unique opportunity for personal growth, encouraging self-awareness, responsibility, and a deeper sense of connection with both animals and others.
Equine Assisted Services
We are proud to offer riding lessons to individuals with special needs.
We are PATH certified and specialize in equine assisted services.
Our equine assisted services utilize one of God’s most beautiful creatures, horses, to help individuals achieve a sense of accomplishment through muscle stimulation and language facilitation. With the use of Whole Brain Learning Techniques and our outdoor classroom, math and reading skills are taught on horseback.
While riding a horse, a person’s sense of coordination and stability improves. By experiencing the constant repetition of the horses stride, and by absorbing the horses’ rhythm in the body, a person’s back and trunk muscles (so important for the physically challenged) can be strengthened and become activated in ways they could not in any other exercise. Nerve patterns, that would have otherwise, perhaps laid dormant for an entire lifetime, can come alive! It also allows for tight ligaments to become more relaxed and at ease.
Weekly riding for a an individual can also increase the sense of accomplishment and self- confidence our population often doesn’t get in any other way. Praise for riding a horse can turn a sad face into a happy one!
Our equine assisted services is include therapeutic sport riding and hippo-therapy.
Our program offers each rider a chance to experience the wonder of horse riding and we get to see the benefits. Those who ride horses begin to learn to trust the horse they are riding, and over time, find that life is just a little bit better.
